Although little is known regarding gambling behavior etiology, the Pathway model has frequently been cited as a possible explanation for psychiatric co-morbidities in problem gamblers. At the JC, we will discuss pros and cons of conceptual psychiatric models, possible critiques against the models, as well as implications for treatment study design.
