Thursday November 21st, professor Kyle will give a lecture about his research. He has, among other things, explored the link between sleep disorders and mental health conditions, showing how disrupted sleep affects emotional regulation. His research has also delved into the mechanisms of chronic sleep disorders, cognitive function, and brain health, and he has evaluated treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and more specifically Sleep Restriction Therapy. In this talk he will aim to cover contemporary understanding of sleep/circadian alterations in insomnia; emergence of sleep restriction therapy as a leading treatment strategy and what we know about its mechanisms of action; and the potential clinical benefits of formally targeting insomnia in common physical and mental health conditions.
